What does 'preflop odds'
refer to ?
The chances of future winning
with a certain preflop hand.
What are card groups and
how do they help?
The respected players and
authors David Sklansky and Mason Malmuth assigned
each hand to a group between 1 and 8 where the lower the group the stronger the
hand. Remembering these groups helps you estimate the true
value of each hand.
I mastered the group, how
does it help me?
For every poker player it
is essential to know how strong the hand he has. A player
who knows evaluating his hands' strength, will make much
better decisions on the table. He would make better
decisions for when to fold, raise and call. He is less
likely to give his money away with weak hands.
In
the software I see the group 0, the lower the stronger?!
The hands' groups that
should be memorized are assigned from 1 to 8, where 1 is the
strongest and 8 is the least strong. Hands with even lower
chances of winnings are assigned in our program as "Group
0", and should be remembered as Zero Chance of
Winning. We put the 0 group in due to easier control
with the keyboard num pad. Around 60% of all hands are
assigned to this group, that is why it is easier using the 0
key on the keyboard num pad instead of group 9 for instance.
